Northern Ireland Opera once again returns to the historic coastal village of Glenarm in Co. Antrim for the eighth annual Festival of Voice, in partnership with BBC Radio 3.
Five bright young talents from across Ireland compete for the title of Northern Ireland Opera’s Voice of 2018 in a weekend-long programme of recitals and performances which concludes with the Gala Final on Sunday 2 September at 7pm.
This weekend will have three free-to-attend recitals in partnership with BBC Radio 3, featuring some of the UK’s finest singers and musicians.
- Friday 31st August evening: Full length concert (with interval) FROM 8pm – Stephan Loges (bass-baritone) / Simon Lepper (piano)
- Saturday 1st September evening: Full length concert (with interval) FROM 7pm – Kitty Whately (mezzo) / Simon Lepper (piano)
- Sunday 2nd September afternoon: Full length concert (with interval) FROM 2pm – Gemma Summerfield (soprano) / Simon Lepper (piano)

Glens of Antrim Singing Explores Finale Concert

After a week long programme of fun, games and rehearsals, come along and watch the Glens of Antrim Singing Explorers, a choir made up of local school children, as they perform alongside Northern Ireland Opera’s Studio singers.
*The Glens of Antrim Singing Explorers Finale Concert will not be ticketed, but seating will be allocated on a first come first served basis.*

Festival of Voice 2018 Gala Final

Join us on Sunday evening for the culmination of this year’s Festival of Voice – the Gala Final with pianist David Quigley. Hosted by renowned broadcaster Sean Rafferty, this competition features the brightest young singing talents from across Ireland, performing arias, duets and songs, for the chance to be crowned ‘Northern Ireland Opera Voice of 2018.’
This year’s finalists will be: Margaret Bridge (Mezzo-Soprano), Kelli-Ann Masterson (Soprano), Kathleen Nic Dhiarmada (Soprano), Catherine Donnelly (Soprano) and Ami Hewitt (Soprano).
