If your child is aged between 6-8 or 9-12 years, and they love music, games and creativity, then the Glens of Antrim Singing Explorers is for them!
This year’s course will take place using engaging videos the children will watch online, supported by Zoom rehearsals. The programme will be led by Anne McCambridge and Laura McFall, both highly experienced and qualified facilitators in teaching singing for children.
There will be eight sessions in total, and two ways to attend, either over four weeks on Monday and Wednesday mornings beginning on July 20th and running until August 16th. Or a condensed version, over two weeks, every morning from Monday to Thursday beginning on July 20th and running until July 30th.
During this time the children will work on healthy vocal technique, and on their musicianship skills through games and activities inspired by the Kodály philosophy of music education based around this year’s theme of ‘Myths and Legends’.
Your child will need access to a device which is compatible with Zoom, so a laptop, tablet or smart-phone – if you have more than one child within either the Junior or Senior age bracket it is fine for them to share one device. There’s no audition: all singing abilities are welcome.
We’ll record what the children learn over the course of the scheme and along with artwork and other materials we produce together, we will create a video to be shared on Northern Ireland Opera’s social media channels and which the children can show to families and friends, far and wide.
The course costs £10 per child or £15 for a family (plus Eventbrite’s booking fee) and is free for children eligible for free school meals (please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your place if you fit this criteria).
After booking your place, we’ll be in touch with full details of the programme and look forward to welcoming your child/children as part of the Singing Explorers family for 2020.
