‘Who Has The Right To Judge?’ This public debate is hosted by the Queen’s University debating society, Literific, with guest speaker Dr Fabian Schuppert.

We will discuss some of the moral issues raised in Stephen Sondheim’s musical thriller Sweeney Todd: revenge, guilt and the distribution of power. As Sweeney becomes the master of his own, bloodthirsty law, can we watch without being complicit?

Dr Fabian Schuppert is Lecturer in Political Theory and Philosophy at Queen’s University Belfast and Director of the Centre for the Study of Risk & Inequality at QUB. Fabian’s primary research interests are political philosophy and applied ethics, with a focus on social inequality and the issues surrounding climate change.

This is a free event and no prior knowledge of the story of ‘Sweeney Todd’ is required to participate.
